Nelson Anderson

Nelson Anderson affectionately called Junior by family and friends, was the second child and oldest son born to the union of Nelson and Dorthy Anderson on October 17, 1952, in Chicago Il. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Denise Anderson, his parents and younger brother Edward William Anderson. At an early age Nelson attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized under Revered Wilbur N. Daniel. Nelson attended Lewis Chaplain elementary school and went on to attend and graduate from Chicago Vocational High School. Nelson met Elizabeth Denise Paul at Chicago Vocational High School (CVS), they dated throughout high school and married July 28, 1973. Their union was blessed with a son Nelson III (Truck). As a young boy Nelson loved to play with toy trucks. As an adult he went to truck driving school, graduated and began his career driving 18 wheelers across America for UPS. He was with UPS for many years. Later he joined the United States Postal Service (USPS) as a city driver to remain closer to home and worked there until he retired. Nelson had a strong and interesting personality outside of work. Nelson enjoyed many things; he cherished his family and valued spending time with them. He frequently talked (or vigorously debated) with his male family members about sports, particularly football, basketball, and track. He was a staunch Bears fan, win or lose. Taking pictures of family and displaying them in his home and cooking were also activities he enjoyed. Nelson’s home was filled with good food and treats that he was eager to share with you. Nelson was also an avid bowler. He was a member of a league and would sometimes travel to participate in tournaments. Nelson grew up loving music which was a lifetime joy. He owned a vast collection of dusty’s, blues, jazz, and rock music. He would often phone his sisters and play a song from their childhood to test their music memory. Not only was Nelson generous, but he has a very caring personality with both family and friends. He knew everyone’s birthday and he was usually the first call you received on your day. Nelson was a great father, grandfather, and an ultimate uncle to his nieces and nephews, supporting them by attending their activities, encouraging, and congratulating their efforts. Nelson leaves to celebrate his remarkable life; son Nelson III, daughter in-law Tanesha, granddaughter Asha. He also accepted Shavonne, Anthony, and Bryan as his children. Sisters; Ann (Albert), Elaine (Howard), nephews Anton, Sean, and William, nieces; Shawntrice, Mia, Camecia, and Deja and a host of great nieces and nephews. Close friends Clarence, Oliver, and Debra along with many others. Surrounded by many of his family kissing him and saying good-bye on March 27, 2026, Nelson peacefully transitioned to heaven to be with our Lord Jesus and reunite with his heavenly family. May all of us who knew and loved Nelson (Junior) find comfort in the cherished memories we shared with him. His spirit will forever shine in our hearts.
